Les Copains MFW Spring 2015

Stefania Bandiera, the latest designer to try her hand at Les Copains, got into the swing of things with an array of flaring jackets, tops and sweaters. They headlined a spring collection that skewed dressy, and occasionally felt tricky.

These loose and flaring tops varied in surface texture, from geometric patterns and jungle leaves that appeared as intarsia patterns on mesh knits all the way through to sparkly sequined jackets. Wide pants or flaring shorts finished off the looks.

There were sporty touches like drawstrings on cocooning evening popovers, and shirttails jutting out from jumpsuits bifurcated at the back.

Bandiera’s efforts to ignite the brand extended to an ambient scent concocted with Florentine perfumer Dr. Vranjes that wafted through the gilded salons of Palazzo Clerici. | via WWD

Philipp Plein MFW Spring 2015

The clothes for Spring, while uncomplicated in their construction, otherwise followed his more-is-more ethos. Things started out simply, if surprisingly, with a crinolined party dress in bold marinière stripes, followed by somewhat less unexpected chain-trimmed shrunken leather biker vests and puffed ball skirts. But it wasn’t long before Plein dipped into the crystal embellishments, and once he got a taste, he didn’t let up: There were rhinestone stripes on stovepipe jeans, rhinestone slogans (“Ahoi!” or “Cocktail”) on handbags, and rhinestone toucans on just about everything. What held it all together is hard so say. Tougher still: trying to figure out what any of the upbeat, seemingly innocuous clothes had to do with the title Plein gave the show, Abyss Apocalypse.

Maybe it’s better not to wonder. The people who were piled into that Styrofoam-filled pool by the end of the night didn’t seem too concerned with the show’s deeper meaning. They came for the spectacle. And Philipp Plein gave them one. | via Style
